Housing Repairs Programme
In September 2019, Te Tumu Kāinga and the Māori Trustee committed $2 million, in partnership with Te Puni Kōkiri, to support critical repairs of Māori whānau homes in Te Tai Tokerau and Te Tai Rāwhiti.
This was extended in 2020/21, with an additional $2 million provided to support further repairs in the Far North, East Coast and Bay of Plenty/Waikato regions.
This again was extended in 2021/22, with an additional $1 million provided to support further repairs.
We also committed $1 million towards housing repairs for 42 homes in Kaingaroa Village as part of an initiative that provided support services to help revitalise the town.

Delivering positive outcomes for Māori whānau
The Māori housing repairs programme is just part of the work we do to support Māori whānau.
We work with our housing partners across Aotearoa to invest in housing projects and pathway to ownership programmes to help Māori to access healthy, affordable housing.

We’ll continue to support Māori whānau through these programmes and housing projects as long as there is a need.
