He kāinga he taonga, he taonga oranga.

At Te Tumu Kāinga, we work with our partners across Aotearoa on projects that support whānau Māori to access healthy and affordable homes alongside pathways to home ownership.

Across all our programmes Te Tumu Kāinga has supported 338 whānau Māori totalling around 1,264 people into healthy affordable homes.

To date we have:

  • Delivered 127 affordable housing properties to-date for Māori whānau
  • 80 for Waimahia housing up to 320 people
  • 41 for Puhinui housing up to 160 people
  • 10 for Paetutu housing up to 40 people

These have been delivered under affordable rental and home ownership programmes. 21 families have now fully moved to 100% independent ownership of their homes.

Through our work supporting iwi to deliver progressive home ownership via concessionary funding we have:

  • Delivered 10 houses in a pilot programme in Taranaki for iwi whānau
  • Invested $8.5m to-date in grant funding to support iwi and Māori groups to complete critical housing repairs. 186 houses have been repaired across the country, improving the living conditions & health & wellbeing of 186 whānau Māori, or an estimated 744 people.
